Book Hotel in the Conference Block

UC Davis Air Quality Research Center has secured special discounted hotel rates exclusively for our delegates. Booking within the official conference block not only guarantees you the best available rate, it also helps us meet our room commitments. When delegates stay at the host hotels, we’re able to keep costs lower, strengthen our negotiating power, and reinvest savings into enhanced conference experiences.

We understand that some delegates may need to book through their organization’s travel portal (e.g., Concur). If that applies to you, please notify the conference organizers so we can work with the hotel to credit your reservation toward our block—helping us avoid penalty fees and ensuring the conference community benefits.

International Attendees

Entry Requirements for Chile

Foreign nationals traveling to Chile for tourism, business meetings, conferences, or other short-term activities generally enter under a Permanencia Transitoria permit.

This permit allows visitors to remain in Chile for up to 90 days, although the period authorized is determined by Chilean immigration authorities. Travelers may also be asked to demonstrate that they have sufficient financial means to support their stay. Learn more about Permanencia Transitoria

Whether you need to obtain a visa or prior authorization before traveling depends on the nationality shown on your passport. Requirements may change, so all international attendees should confirm their individual situation using the official Chilean Consulate website before making travel arrangements.

Travelers should carry a valid passport and any visa or prior authorization required for their nationality. Nationals of certain South American countries may be permitted to enter Chile using a valid national identity card under applicable international agreements; however, attendees should verify this with the appropriate Chilean consulate before traveling.

Do You Need a Visa?

Use the official Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs lookup tool to determine whether your nationality requires a visa or prior authorization:

Check visa requirements for Chile

The lookup tool also provides information about applicable fees and the maximum authorized period of stay.

Applying for a Visa or Prior Authorization

If your nationality requires a visa or prior authorization, the application must be submitted online through Chile’s Consular Services System (SAC):

Apply through the Consular Services System

Applicants are generally required to:

  1. Complete the online application form, indicating the purpose and expected duration of the trip.
  2. Upload a passport-style photograph.
  3. Upload a copy of the identification page of a valid passport.
  4. Provide evidence of sufficient financial means for the stay.
  5. Provide proof of legal residence or immigration status if applying from a country other than the applicant’s country of nationality.
  6. Submit any additional documents requested by the relevant Chilean consulate.

The consulate may request further documentation, a criminal-record certificate, or a personal interview. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive payment instructions, when applicable. The visa is issued electronically and must be printed and carried with the traveler’s valid passport when entering Chile.

Requirements, fees, and processing times vary by nationality and consular office. Attendees who require prior authorization are strongly encouraged to apply well in advance and to verify the latest requirements through the Official Chilean Consulate website.

Please note: The issuance of a visa or prior authorization does not guarantee admission to Chile. Final admission is determined by Chilean immigration authorities at the point of entry.

Need a Conference Invitation Letter?

If you require a visa or prior authorization to attend ASIC LATAM and need a conference invitation letter from the UC Davis Air Quality Research Center, please contact Natalie Ruiz at [email protected].

Please note that an invitation letter supports the application but does not guarantee that a visa or prior authorization will be granted.
